Women In Tech Birmingham aims to meet regularly to support, encourage and empower women in the tech industry - we want everyone to have the confidence to achieve their career goals.
Did you know that in the UK:
Only 19% of those working in technology are women.
Only 15% of students taking computer science A-level courses are female.
Only 5% of leadership roles in the technology sector are held by women.
The gender pay gap is 9.6%
Something needs to change.
We hope that through our events we can challenge the stereotypes that discourage women from studying and applying for jobs in STEM, equip each other to fight the problems we face every day and promote gender equality in the workplace. We try to meet regularly for relaxed networking events, where you can meet and get to know other women in tech in the area, as well as more structured events where we hope to delve a bit deeper into issues that we face as women in this field.
All women with an interest in tech are welcome to attend our events. We also welcome other minority genders in tech who want to attend, but the organisers recognise that, as cisgender women, we are not able to speak about the unique difficulties that non-binary or other gender diverse people face.
We do not tolerate any harassment or discrimination at our events. If you have questions or concerns regarding these issues, please see our “Code of Conduct” page, or contact us on our socials (linked below).
